1.race重在指"种族、家族",指以肤色而分的人种，用the human race表示"人类".一般为单数，表示抽象含义，例如：The human race is made up of all kinds of people who live on the earth.
2.human being表示"人、人类",有单复数形式，即可以用a human或humans表示区别于动物的"人"的含义。有时只用human或being.例如：Men and women are human beings.
3.man与mankind相同，作"人类"时是单数，没有复数形式，不加冠词，表示具体的男女老少。作主语时谓语动词用单数形式，例如：Man can conquer nature. We have found new resources for mankind.另外，man和woman还可以用来表示一般的男人和女人，都为可数名词。
4.person表示个体的人，为可数名词，包括性别、男女、老少，例如：a man, a woman, a child等；复数形式为people;people有时还可作"家人、亲属"的意思；作单数可数名词时为"民族、种族"的意思，例如：
A/Some person is waiting for you.
You must come home with me and meet my people.
The Chinese are an industrious people and there are 56 peoples in China.
5.folk是集体名词，表示"家里人、人（们）"的意思，folk和folks都可以用来表示复数的含义，作主语时谓语动词用复数形式，例如：Some folk（s） like beer and some don't.
folk用作形容词，作定语，意思为"民间的",如：a folk story/music.
6.fellow指"人、家伙",（口语），专指男性，复数为-s,接近于guy（s），例如：
What a nice fellow he is!
We were fellows at school.
作定语时意思为"同伴的、同事的",如：a fellow worker, two fellow travellers.
7.creature用来指人时含有怜爱、轻蔑的感情色彩，例如：
They are all lovely creature.
What a despicable creature!
